Stephanie Rompot

Founder & Instructor, Sweetgrass Pilates

My journey into Pilates began long before I ever stepped into a studio as a teacher. I trained for 13 years as a dancer at the Julia Mildred School of Dance, in Richmond, VA, where I first discovered the strength, discipline, and grace that movement can bring. I stopped dancing before I went into college at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA. Following schooling, I dove head first into the corporate world, taking up pilates as my hobby.

After a rewarding career in education and healthcare software, I retired from corporate life in 2022 and followed my true passion—helping people feel better in their bodies and in their lives. I immediately pursued my Comprehensive Pilates Certification at Club Pilates and began teaching.

When teaching I prefer the STOTT Pilates© method, known for its focus on precision, alignment, and intelligent movement. I bring that technical foundation into every session, helping people move with purpose, control, and confidence. However, from time to time I will mix in a little ballet inspired stretching.

As part of my journey I recognized the desire and need to support all ages of people. So I also have expanded my training in supporting aging populations, because I believe Pilates can transform quality of life—at any age.

Every session at Sweetgrass Pilates is personal, encouraging, and tailored with care. Whether you're new to Pilates or a longtime mover, you're welcome here.

"Movement is medicine—and Pilates is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with your strength and yourself."
